
SINGAPORE – Inno Biologics Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia's first biopharmaceuticals contract manufacturing organisation and a Ministry of Finance incorporated company, was awarded with the "Emerging Company of the Year 2010 Award" at the 2nd BioSpectrum Asia Pacific Awards which was officiated by Mr. Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Manpower, Government of Singapore. The ceremony was held at The Legends, Fort Canings Park and attended by Pn. Puspawati Omar, Malaysian Trade Commissioner for Singapore and nearly 200 life science industry leaders from Singapore and other Asia-Pacific countries.
"As a new Malaysian company, we are deeply honoured to be presented with this Emerging Company of the Year 2010 Award. BioSpectrum is the most authoritative and influential information healthcare industry in the Asia Pacific region. We are proud of this recognition and we hope that this award will pave way to more successes in the future," said Dato' Mohd. Nazlee Kamal, Group Managing Director of Inno Bio Ventures Sdn. Bhd. when asked to share his views on receiving the award.
The Emerging Company of the Year 2010 Award looks into criteria that include innovative business ideas, how the company benefits the local community and business development, its potential to emerge as category winner within three to five years and the ability to attract talent, funds and industry’s admiration. The award which is categorised under the Editor’s Choice awards was selected by the magazine’s editorial team; wishes to focus the spotlight onto companies who they believe will become the winners in the near future.
The awards which started in India in 2003 function as a "platform" where key decision makers would meet and discuss the future of the biotechnology industry and aims to recognize outstanding efforts either by individuals or organisations in the biotechnology field. The Awards have well-defined criteria and no nominations are invited. BioSpectrum’s editorial team brought together a six-member international jury, which rigorously evaluated the shortlist of nominees, put together by the magazine’s research team. The jury members were industry leaders who provided critical insights into the industry.
BioSpectrum Asia Pacific Awards 2010 jury comprised of key leaders such as Mr. G Steven Burrill, CEO of Burrill and Company, Dr. Deborah Rathjen, the Chair of AusBio, Australia’s leading industry body for biotechnology, Dr. Chungcheng Liu, General Director of Taiwan’s Biomedical Engineering Lab and Vice President of the country’s Industrial Technology Research Institute, Mr. Jung Jin Seo, BioSpectrum Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 and also the CEO & Chairman of Korea's Celltrion, Prof Dr. B Suresh, President of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, and BioSpectrum Group Editor, E Abraham Mathew.
Inno Biologics' services span from molecular biology to process development and manufacturing of therapeutic proteins. Inno Biologics has formed collaborations and partnerships with Boehringer Ingelheim of Germany, Biomanufacturing Alliance under the Centre for Biomedical Innovation MIT, Centre for Molecular Immunology (CIMAB), Cuba and CEVEC GmbH from Germany. Inno Biologics is currently in the midst of developing and manufacturing four products for a client from India.
