Kuala Lumpur, 17 November 2009 – The Malaysian biotechnology community today witnessed the launch of the BioMalaysia 2009 Conference & Exhibition by the Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak today.

Also present at the launch were YB Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, YB Tuan Haji Fadillah, Y.Bhg Tan Sri Sidek The chief Secretary government of Malaysia,Y.Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Dr Zaharuddin Idrus Chairman Biotechcorp, YBhg Dato’ Madinah Mohamed , Secretary General MOSTI and YBhg Dato Iskandar Mizal Mohmood CEO Biotechcorp.

BioMalaysia 2009 organised by MOSTI and its lead biotechnology industry agency Biotechcorp is the largest being held since its inception in 2002 and is taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre starting today until Thursday, 19 November 2009. For the seventh time, this premier biotechnology event shows significant increase in the number of participants with more than 8,000 trade visitors from 40 countries, besides 100 exhibitors with the theme “Accelerating Commercialization in Biotechnology”. Several strategic MOUs were also signed during the BioMalaysia including between Novartis and Sarawak Biodiversity Centre.
